Definition of Divisor in Math

Try Math Warehouse's Divisibility Calculator to determine if any number is dibisible by another.
The divisor is the number that you are dividing by.
In the problem 100 divided by 5 (100 ÷5), 5 is the divisor.
Examples
  • 10 ÷ 2, 2 is the divisor while 10 is the dividend
  • 12 ÷ 3, 3 is the divisor while 12 is the dividend
  • 5 ÷ 3, 3 is the divsor and 5 is the dividend.
    • The latter example illustrates the fact that the divsor does not have to be smaller than the dividend!
