Definition of Divisor in Math

The divisor is the number that you are dividing by.
In the problem 100 divided by 5 (100 ÷5), 5 is the divisor.
Examples
- 10 ÷ 2, 2 is the divisor while 10 is the dividend
- 12 ÷ 3, 3 is the divisor while 12 is the dividend
- 5 ÷ 3, 3 is the divsor and 5 is the dividend.
- The latter example illustrates the fact that the divsor does not have to be smaller than the dividend!
